What We'll Do
-
Step 1
For this step you'll need:
In a separate bowl, combine your flour, salt, baking soda and cream of tartar together and set aside for now.
-
Step 2
For this step you'll need:
- 1/2 cup (110g) Margarine
- 1/2 cup (60g) Powdered Sugar
- 1/2 cup (105g) Sugar
- 1/3 cup (75g) Salad Oil
- Mixer
In your mixing bowl, add your margarine, powdered sugar, white sugar and salad oil and mix. Usually a mixer is optional for Yammy's recipes but trust me, you'll want a standing or an electric mixer for Step 3.
-
Step 3
For this step you'll need:
Mix at high speed for about 5 minutes. Your mix will start to become light and fluffy and have the similar feel to whipped cream or frosting.
-
Step 4
For this step you'll need:
Add your egg and vanilla and continue to mix.
-
Step 5
For this step you'll need:
- Your Spatula :-)
To ensure that the egg and the vanilla are evenly mixed throughout, stop your mixer and scrape the sides of the bowl with your spatula. Continue mixing and scraping until the egg and vanilla are completely mixed in.
-
Step 6
For this step you'll need:
- Premixed Dry Ingredients From Step 1
Add your 4 premixed dry ingredients (flour, salt, baking soda, cream of tartar) into the mix 1/2 cup at a time and mix in between. If you add all the dry mix all at once, you will get blasted with flour to the face! :-)
-
Step 7
For this step you'll need:
- 1 Sheet Of Parchment Paper
- 1 Sheet Of Tinfoil
- Your Fridge :-)
This dough is sticky, so place it on some parchment paper with tinfoil underneath it. The parchment paper will keep the dough from sticking to the tinfoil. Wrap your dough and place in the fridge for 1 hour. Take a mini breather. You've earned it!
-
Step 8
For this step you'll need:
- Cookie Sheet
- 1 Sheet Of Parchment Paper
- Your Hands :-)
Break time is over! Preheat your oven to 350˚F (175˚C). Shape your dough into walnut size balls and place on a sheet of baking parchment paper on a cookie sheet. I found that 12 fit comfortably on my 17" baking tray.
-
Step 9
For this step you'll need:
- Fork
Before they go into the oven, press down each cookie with a fork. Don't push it all the way to the baking tray. Just enough where your cookie gets a little flatter.
-
Step 10
For this step you'll need:
- Your Oven :-)
Bake for 10-12 minutes in your preheated oven 350˚F (175˚C).
-
Step 11
For this step you'll need:
Because of their pale complexions, these cookies can look under baked when you pull them out of the oven. But trust me, 10-12 minutes is plenty of time. The cookies in this recipe were cooked at 11 minutes. In the image, I flipped one cookie over showing the back side being cooked through.
-
The Best Part!
For this step you'll need:
- Your Appetite :-)
Grab your favorite cup of hot beverage and enjoy your hard work. These super soft cookies go very well with any hot drink. Enjoy and indulge! You've earned it. :-) Hope you like it!
